Wheels, Fashion, Racing, Goals and the TtT

I haven't posted in a while, so I'm covering a bunch of ground here.

I went by the shop today to check out a set of Zipp 202s that Amy has been telling me about. You've got to go check them out yourself, they're astonishingly light. But that's not the point. Amy had the design for this year's kit on the computer and I got to take a look. Really, really good! Mostly black with red accents and hints of argyle in a few spots, very subtle. A new Paceline logo runs across the front and back of the jersey as well as down the thigh section of the bibs. I hope we have them in time for Chattanooga.

Is everyone watching the Tour of California? Brian turned me on to the official site which is broadcasting the race live over the internet. Streaming video, slightly clumsy commentary (the guys are very knowledgeable, just not the most seasoned broadcasters), GPS tracking and rider standings all live. There have been some problems with the GPS tracking and the alternate camera views, but the audio and video have been great every day.

Next: I think it's time to check up on goals for the year. The only one I can make any progress on at this point is weight. I'm down eight pounds so far and about the same to go. I have signed up for Chattanooga, now all I have to do is hang with Ray to take care of another. I'm planning to ride the time trial in April at the speedway in Durham, that's another. We have the house and rental car reserved for France. I just need a flight, a train ticket and the stamina to climb for four hours.

How are you guys doing? I think Eddie has already been a wanker this year, so he's failed.

Lastly, I'm going to ride the Tour to Tanglewood this year, assuming others of you are as well. I'm not doing the 24 Hours of Booty, so this will be my charity ride for 2008. Who's in? Cast your vote to the right -->

Since Eric left off the "Eddie is not a Wanker" catagory, please vote with your comments. Keep in mind I do not remember saying I would ride and did not show, I just did not show for a ride. Also what proof does Eric have? Why does he want me to fail? Will he feel better if he succeds while the rest of us do not? 31003

OK Eddie, I think I've fixed the poll for you. Had to delete the other one to do it, so everyone needs to vote again.

Why not 24 Hours of Booty? I heard Lance was coming this year, finally! Should be awesome this year. Also saw they are doing one in Maryland in September. A group of us are doing both.

What about the Black and Blue Relay we were discussing Saturday? I checked the date and it's July 19th. The route doesn't follow the Parkway but backroads through VA and NC, ending up in Asheville. The ride starts at 6:00AM so we would have to spend the night somewhere near there. The cost for a 4 person team is only $140 and registration starts March 1st. There are 8 pre-determined transfer sites so we would need to have 4 or 8 committed riders unless some wanted to do more than 50 miles.

Who is the anonymous contributor planning to do both 24 hour Boot events? Brent?

To answer why not 24HoB: This year was miserable with the thunderstorms, falling branches and cold, cold rain. I think I need to let that memory fade a little before I try again.

Are the riders that want to do the TTT going to start a new team or join me riding for VF? 31003

I will have to make a decision between your team and the Volvo team.

I've been trying to figure out what 31003 means. Is that Hacker for Eddie? I can kinda see that in an upside down and backwards way.

It's easier to read if you stand on your head. Five years of college did not go to waste.
